Exhibit in the underground museum is extensive and extremely well designed. Audio tour recommended. Above-ground monument is beautiful but it would be a mistake not to visit the museum itself.

Just slabs of concrete but the place carries such an emotional and historical weight it's incredibly eerie! Go see at sunset as the shadows stretch and add to the atmosphere.

Okay, it's 3000 large concrete blocks, occupying almost 20,000 m² in the city center. Try to imagine that every single block matches to 2000 (!!!) of murdered jewish man. Now look again on memorial.

My favorite museum in Berlin. If you want to learn about the holocaust in depth, this is much better than the Jewish or German history museums.

A sobering place, visit the museum underneath as well. Entrance is free and you can spend from 40 minutes to a couple of hours there, depending on how much you want to browse the material available.
